Construction work has finally commenced on properties at the long awaited Hayle Harbour project, one of Cornwall’s most exciting new coastal developments.

Located at North Quay, Hayle, the harbour regeneration project has been on the cards for the last 10 years, so it’s encouraging to see the work finally in action.

The first phase of the scheme includes houses, retail units and open spaces, all located on the waterside. North Quay will become home to 140 properties located over 11 buildings, including 17 three-bedroom wharf-style houses and a selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. As can be expected, many of the properties will include impressive views over the Hayle estuary.

During phase 1, North Quay Square will also be developed with the aim that the area will become the natural space to host events all through the year. Twenty retail units for shops, restaurants and offices are due to be completed during phase 1.

The development will create a new coastal quarter at Hayle, becoming a heritage destination where people will enjoy living, eating, relaxing, shopping and working, all within a distinctive waterside location. Public access to the beach will be maintained, plus they’ll be new car parks, pedestrian-friendly streets and plenty of seating areas.

It’s hoped that the regeneration of Hayle Harbour will help boost economic growth in the town and the wider west Cornwall area, making it an overall much more desirable place to live.

Plans for two additional phases of housing will be submitted by June 2020. Also in the pipeline are new boat mooring points, watersports facilities and improved facilities for the Gwithian Towans beach.

The Hayle Harbour project is one of our current property investment opportunities at Source. In fact, we have exclusive off-market access, prior to the open market launch later in 2020.

The development is being built by Corinthian Homes and the first phase is expected to be completed by early Summer 2020.
